Question 1

Does New Braunfels have hard water?

Accepted Answer

Yes. New Braunfels Utilities reports hardness between 13.7 and 17.4 grains per gallon, which is very hard.

Question 2

Why is New Braunfels water hard?

Accepted Answer

NBU blends water from the Edwards Aquifer, the Trinity Aquifer, and Guadalupe River surface water from the Gruene plant. Aquifer water moves through limestone and picks up calcium and magnesium.

Question 3

Why does New Braunfels water spot my glasses?

Accepted Answer

NBU water runs about 15.5 grains per gallon. Every droplet that dries can leave minerals behind as a white spot or film. Dishes, shower doors, and faucets often show it first. A softener removes those minerals before the water reaches your taps.

Question 4

Do new builds in New Braunfels come with a softener?

Accepted Answer

Not always. If a home in a community such as Veramendi or Mayfair did not include one, it receives NBU water at roughly 15+ gpg without hardness removal.

Question 5

Is 15 gpg hard enough to matter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. At that hardness, scale can coat water-using equipment, dishwashers, washing machines, faucets, and showerheads. Hard-water scale can also build inside water-using appliances.

Question 6

How hard is the water in Canyon Lake?

Accepted Answer

It depends heavily on the street and supply. Canyon Lake Water Service Company blends lake surface water with Trinity Aquifer wells, so hardness can range from about 10 to 18 grains per gallon. Enter your address above for the likely utility range, then confirm with a water test before final sizing.

Question 7

How current is this water information?

Accepted Answer

The page uses the latest utility ranges already maintained by Everly. Water-source blends can change, so Everly rechecks the published utility information and confirms the final hardness and setup before sizing a system.
